About a year ago, on our way back from summer vacation, we got the message that our daycare was closing and that we no longer had care for our daughter- starting immediately! Of course, our minds went straight to the logistics and we asked ourselves, “Who can we lean on during this time?” Thankfully we sorted it out somewhat quickly; but as we started to talk about what this meant for us moving forward, the wheels started turning in an interesting direction. The daycare that shut down shared the block with my husband’s Chiropractic office and we LOVED the convenience of having it so close. We toured many facilities previously and really recognized the void that this closing would create in our community. So, I looked at my husband and said “I think we should buy it.”
As the saying goes: “Happy wife, happy life!” We knew there would be many challenging and exhausting months along the way so we made sure we brought people into our world that weren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. True to our expectations, the journey was filled with lots of learning, a complete renovation of the facility, as well as accepting setbacks and working to overcome them…day after day, week after week, month after month.
On May 1, 2017, we opened our doors! What a day! Our hearts and souls have gotten so tangled up! Every time we walk through the door to drop-off our daughter we see happy infants giggling at singing teachers, toddlers signing and reading during circle time or our indescribably amazing director calming first-time parents dropping off their children.
Looking back on this past year, we know God’s hand has been guiding us every step of the way and we feel so blessed to be able to continue to serve our amazing families and this loving community through Full Heart Child Care.
